Mr. Pavane is a Partner at Cohen Pontani Lieberman & Pavane LLP. He is a litigator with more than 30 years of experience in intellectual property law. He has been lead counsel in many patent, trademark and copyright cases throughout the United States. Mr. Pavane’s cases have encompassed a wide variety of industries, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, machinery, toys and house wares. His litigations in the pharmaceutical area have included several cases arising under the Hatch- Waxman Act and have involved such drugs as paclitaxel, cyclosporin, enalapril, ranitidine, fexofenadine, megestrol acetate and oxandrolose.

In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Pavane counsels clients concerning the protection of their intellectual property rights and the avoidance of third party rights. During the early part of his career, Mr. Pavane practiced extensively before the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he prosecuted numerous patent applications and handled appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences.

From 1981 to 1996, Mr. Pavane was an associate adjunct professor of law at New York Law School, where he lectured on both patent law and trademark law. Mr. Pavane has also lectured at the Generic Pharmaceutical Association’s Industry Legal Symposiums in May, 2003, and May, 2004, and at the Generic Drug Summit in September, 2003, and the Patent Protection and Life Cycle Management program in February, 2004, both of which were sponsored by the Institute for International Research. Martin has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cooper Union and a J.D. from New York Law School.
